The City Attorney provides legal advice and representation to the City Council, City Manager and City Departments. The City Attorney also administers the contract with a private law firm to provide prosecution services in King County District Court - Shoreline Division for violations of the Shoreline Municipal Code. This contract also includes domestic violence advocacy services provided by the Shoreline Domestic Violence Victim Coordinator. Sound Transit analyzes light rail's environmental impacts
As part of the process to extend light rail from Northgate to Lynnwood through Shoreline, Sound Transit has been analyzing the potential environmental impacts of light rail construction and ongoing service.
Council enacts plastic carryout bag ordinance
On April 29, the City Council voted to prohibit plastic carryout bags at all retail locations in Shoreline. The action is aimed at reducing waste and litter and protecting Shoreline’s environment. The regulations will go into effect on February 1, 2014.
Safety precautions for seniors
While statistically senior citizens are at a lower risk of being victimized by crime than younger people, there are certain crimes that target older people disproportionately. Some studies have found that over half of all fraud victims are seniors.
