2012 Citizen Satifaction Survey Results
Shoreline residents continue to give their community high marks. Seventy-two percent of Shoreline residents believe the City is moving in the right direction and 92% rate Shoreline as an excellent or good place to live.
Every two years, the City of Shoreline conducts a random sampling survey to measure satisfaction with City services and to help determine community priorities. Surveys are mailed to 3,500 Shoreline households. Of those 891 were completed, far exceeding the validation goal.
An area of concern that arose from the 2012 survey is residents’ perceptions of safety. There was a general decrease in residents feeling of safety across the City from the prior survey in 2010. The City will look closely at this issue to determine what can be done to help improve residents’ feelings of safety. However, even with the declines, 78% of residents still feel safe in Shoreline and 91% feel safe in their neighborhoods during the day.
Other 2012 Highlights include:
- 87% of residents are satisfied with the overall quality of City parks, programs and facilities.
- 75% are satisfied with the overall quality of service provided by the City.
- 83% believe it is important to continue making capital investments to Shoreline facilities.
